Tecom Group deploys OTT quality monitoring system for RT

Nizhny Novgorod, Russia — Tecom Group launched a large-scale quality monitoring project for the leading OTT channel – RT (formerly Russia Today). The project will span different countries all around the world.

In collaboration with the experts from RT, Tecom Group collected and organized the requirements to determine the most effective and efficient monitoring system for their needs. The next challenge was to efficiently deploy it to the desired locations across the globe. The solution offered by Tecom Group is based on Qligent Vision, a software based system which is remotely deployed and runs on commercially available IT equipment.

The monitoring service for RT was provided as a turnkey solution through a SaaS model. The Tecom Group’s specialists will be responsible for the design, deployment and management of monitoring system. The key benefit of the SaaS model is a substantial cut in CAPEX related to installation, support and equipment and software updates. The project requires that the monitoring probes will be deployed in the most important cities and countries (where Russia Today broadcasts) as quickly as possible. For the initial launch, RT and Tecom are planning to deploy 6 points of OTT service monitoring in 5 countries: USA, UK, Spain, Mexico and UAE. In accordance with the contract, the number and location of the monitoring points may vary. RT staff will have full 24/7 access to the system via Internet.

Qligent’s Vision platform is an innovative system allowing capturing, collecting and analyzing service quality parameters (as experienced by the end user). Being cloud-enabled and allowing proactive control over the service quality, Vision makes it possible to carry out distributed monitoring in locations all around the world without the need to deploy a complicated network of probes. This technology appears to be indispensable especially as far as the quality monitoring of OTT goes, - the service that should not have any geographical limitations.

The turn-key solution provided by Tecom Group allows OTT service monitoring of common delivery problems and parameters using HLS technology, subjective quality parameters (QoE) and compliance recording for further analysis, verification, and reconciliation with their vendor partners. In case of content delivery failures, the system will automatically send an alarm notification via email or SMS.
