Tecom Group successfully demonstrates Qligent Vision performance to Rostelecom

Nizhny Novgorod, Russia — Tecom Group in collaboration with the regional branch of OJSC “Rostelecom” “Volga” launched a pilot project and successfully carried out a demonstration of a distributed system for IPTV service quality monitoring across “Volga’s” network in Nizhny Novgorod. The monitoring solution is based on Qligent Vision.

The system rollout included the following stages:

• Deployment of the aggregation server (including the root-cause analysis engine) in the NOC;
• Installation of high-capacity probes for input signal monitoring on the head-end;
• Installation of microprobes across the data transmission network (on the aggregation level)
• Installation of the software allowing to monitor IPTV service quality on STBs.

The configuration tailored for Rostelecom allowed accomplishing the following tasks:

• End-to-end monitoring of IPTV quality at all points across the distribution chain of “Volga’s” network;
• Media quality monitoring over the last mile;
• Automated search and root-cause analysis of the service delivery failures;
• Web-based User Interface with an extensive set of tools for visualization and workflow optimization;
• Built-in report generation subsystem.

During the experimental commissioning, the monitoring system was customized according to the recommendations received from “Volga’s” specialists responsible for commissioning of commutation systems and access networks. The customer-specific features included but were not limited to, the extension of automated alarms correlation mechanism.

Rostelecom’s staff were impressed with the high level of professionalism of Tecom Group’s specialists, who proved to be a reliable partner and successfully carried out integration and custom development projects according to customer’s requirements, which appeared during installation and commissioning of the monitoring system across the network of “Volga”.
