Qligent Vision performance rolled out by Tecom Group for Russian TV channel Astrakhan 24 was a success
Nizhny Novgorod, Russia — Tecom Group successfully completed the experimental commissioning of the monitoring solution Qligent Vison across the distribution network of Russian TV channel Astrakhan 24.
Astrakhan 24 is a Russian TV station that broadcasts 24/7 in HD via the most popular modes of transmission: satellite, cable, OTT. Astrakhan 24 sees its mission in covering major events of the Astrakhan region.
This pilot project was intended to demonstrate the capabilities of Qligent Vision at any point in the distribution chain. From October, 23 to December, 22 2015 Tecom Group’s specialists in collaboration with Astrakhan 24’s staff monitored satellite feeds and HLS streaming for DVB-S2 channel provided by NTV-Plus.
The solution deployed by Tecom Group offered a set of features, which were relevant for this particular case:
- Online streaming
- QoE (freeze, black screen)
- Loudness ( EBU R128)
- Bitrates
- Errors TR101290 (p1, p2, p3)
- OTT service monitoring using HLS technology
Deputy CTO responsible for broadcast quality in Astrakhan 24, Aleksey Chukanov, highly estimated the extensive functionality of Qligent Vision that allowed Astrakhan 24 detecting errors at the following points: HD-SDI coding, HLS delivery from Astrakhan to Moscow-located decoder, HLS to SDI decoding and transcoding, transportation to teleport. Aleksey Chukanov also brought to attention additional capabilities of Qligent Vision like immediate e-mail reporting, error logging at different points of the distribution network, compliance recording etc.
