Melbourne, FL — Tecom Group representatives attended an international exhibition and forum CSTB. Telecom & Media’2015 held on January 27-29, 2015 in Moscow.
The event that took place for the 17th time gathered more than 400 leading broadcast and telecommunication companies from 29 countries. More than 22 000 specialists showed up for a three-day event. The items on the agenda of СSTB’2015 were as follows: investment prospects of TV broadcasting field, monetization opportunities, convergence and divergence processes between the participants of the paid TV market, anti-recessionary measures and development trends of Russian TV broadcasting.
Alexander Kabanov, Tecom Group General Manager, summarized the outcome of CSTB’2015 emphasizing that despite the recently lowered interest towards exhibition activities, he managed to take part in a number of constructive and fruitful meetings with partners and potential customers.
Anatoly Zubashev, Vice President, Broadcasting, states: "CSTB is an excellent place to meet all the industry experts, talk to customers as well as solution and content providers at the same time. Even though every year exhibitors vary a lot, anyone who is interested in partnerships within the industry and its development consider СSTB attendance an absolute must. From the technical standpoint we see a continuing movement towards 4K and OTT. At the same time many broadcasters doubt whether to take a step towards 4K, knowing that 8K has already become more than theoretical, and maybe it would be better to wait for a while and move on straight to 8K".
Aleksey Dolgov, Vice President, R&D, says: "The exhibition showed that market players are still mostly focused on Ultrа HD/4K and ОТТ. The main problem is a lacking monetization model in the conditions of Russia’s market. This leads to a huge supply of various services from mobile applications – virtual TV guides to social networks integration attempts".
